A Growth Mindset

We always tell our children to have a growth mindset but often forget about practising what we preach for ourselves!
Our own growth mindset is as important
When you have a growth mindset:
• abilities can be developed
• it allows you to learn from mistakes
• your possibilities are widened
• you can keep trying even when it’s hard
• you see learning as part of a process
• you welcome feedback
Having a fixed mindset:
• stops you from taking on new challenges
• restricts you from thinking that you’ll ever be good at something
• limits your learning
• means you are disinterested in listening to feedback
How can you have a growth mindset?
Allow yourself time to
• be patient
• take on challenges
• ask for feedback
• accept mistakes/difficulties as learning opportunities
• try new things
