Children's Mental Health Week

It’s Children’s Mental Health Week!
Through the work I’ve been doing with Minds Ahead I’ve been coaching many teachers in developing their whole school mental health approach.
There’s been a massive push on supporting Children’s mental health and wellbeing across primary & secondary education.
As educators, we’ve seen it becoming more prevalent and being displayed in ways very different to previous years/decades.
BUT, because teachers are amazing, I’ve been able to hear of how so many across the country, have implemented such wonderful initiatives to support the mental health of not just their students, but their parents and staff too.
• Wellbeing warriors
• Friendship benches
• Zones of regulation
• Colour monsters
• Wellbeing working parties
• Student wellbeing leads
• Good feeling indicators
• Nurture hubs
• The Magic Mile
• Restorative justice
• Trauma informed training
• Lego/art/music therapy
• Mindfulness
• Wellbeing Wednesday
• Staff breakfast
• ELSA training
…to name but a few!
The theme of this year’s Children’s Mental Health Week is Know Yourself, Grow Yourself run by the charity Place2Be.
It’s about encouraging young people to be aware of themselves & growing in resilience. The theme aims to help children & young people to understand themselves, recognise their emotions and know what to do or who to speak to when they may need to.
