Perspective

Have you ever stood at a viewpoint and thought about how vast the world is & how small and tiny we are? How insignificant our day to day stresses feel compared to the size of the world?

That’s not to say what we internalise and worry about, is insignificant - because it is real and does mean something to us.

It’s more about allowing ourselves the opportunity to really put it all into perspective. This tends to happen more so, when significant events happen in life. It shocks the system and helps put things into perspective.

When things feel tough, stressful and overwhelming, it’s so easy to get fixated on it all and really difficult to shake it off - it’s totally normal! But it becomes harder to put things into perspective.

Seen as how it’s unlikely that we can afford to go to the Grand Canyon every weekend to think and reflect, how can we enable thinking about perspective more frequently in our day to day life?

• look up at the sky - watch the clouds move or try and find stars in the night sky
• reach out to your family and friends
• talk through what’s on your mind with someone
• smile at a stranger - you never know what’s going on for them and that smile could make their day
• say good morning to your colleagues
• take time off work - don’t go away, just spend time doing something for you
• spend time outdoors
• close the laptop and go for a walk
• look for signs of spring - how many blossom trees can you find? How many pink flowers can you spot?

What do you do to help put things into perspective?
